The company known for its high quality water, Tepelene, has recently taken the initiative to replace a good part of its cars with electric cars. This is an important step not only because it directly affects the environment, but also because it can affect the entire Albanian social ecosystem. In which way? By giving a significant example.
“The better way to create relevance is doing what a company commits for.”, said Mr. Laurentiu Hutanu, General Manager of Tepelene in an interview for Monitor, “We are contributing to less air pollution through starting with some electrical vehicles. We are drafting practices for other companies to follow. We are encouraging and “educating” our staff not only for the usage but also for the benefits of the projects. Benefits directly linked with their own and their family well-being.”
Mr. Hutanu noted that the company he runs followed in the footsteps of CCBS, which last year turned all cars into electric ones. He also stressed the importance of creating a sustainable ecosystem within the company itself, as a form of multi-level awareness raising.
“Being part of a company with a clear vision towards sustainability eventually creates the “attitude” and engagement toward environment causes.”
This initiative of Uji i Ftohë Tepelene is also important because it marks the beginning of a serious commitment for the company, which will be followed by the continuation of this project but also the initiation of new projects which are related to sustainability.
“This is the start, and we aim to contribute furthermore and develop this project or other coming projects. We are committed to work with quality while ensuring healthy workplace for our employees, for our children, for our city, leveraging the benefits of such investments.”, said the General Manager of Tepelene.
It seems that Tepelene can be following the footsteps of the most famous brands in the world, such as Coca-Cola, to bring the iconic water of Ali Pasha with a recyclable bottle. At a time when the impact we have on the environment has become more significant than ever, the orientation towards sustainability by prestigious companies such as Tepelene may be the right impetus for other companies but also for citizens to start acting on air quality as for the water they drink.
